Yesterday, the conversation at the MarkeTel  office turned to what a difficult spring it’s been for so many people this year. Floods, fires, tornadoes, and other natural disasters can make the world seem a very bleak place indeed.  Our hearts go out to the people that have been affected, and we’d like to urge everyone: take care of one another.

Q & A: What are 3 tips for managing home-based call center agents?

Knowledgeable employees from MarkeTel submit answers to a Focus Forum Q & As on a regular basis. See our tips below to see how we answered the aforementioned question.

1.  Continuous team interaction:   Being a home remote agent or home based agent can lead to a feeling of isolation.  Most of us have a need or desire for contact or interaction with other people.   Be sure there is a format to which everyone can interact not always just on a work level, but provide a medium where everyone can get to know each other on a personal level and have a little ongoing social interaction.    This will provide the sense of belonging to a team.

2.  Access to information:  Product training and sales or customer service training are required for any remote agent though one area is easily overlooked.  Training on processes and clearly showing where the information is available for further reference. All need to know materials should be easily available, not just as an email is sent out, but have an online resource which agents can be pointed to and trained on using as a reference tool.   When done properly it can relieve responding to repetitive questions and encourage and empowered environment.


3.  Remote access simplicity and tracking:  The system used for the remote agents needs to be simple for logging in then provide an easy to follow report for tracking activity.   Using 3-4 different user names and passwords for multiple applications can be frustrating especially with all support being remote.    By not being too complicated there is a higher level of confidence and less opportunity for complication.   The remote access system must also track agent activity, when did they log in and what did they do while logged in.  Be sure to show what the reports will track so the agent can now be accountable for their time.  Let the system do the tracking though and be sure the agent can connect to the system easily.

MarkeTel Gives to the Regina Food Bank

MarkeTel is pleased to help raise $48,354.37 and food donations for the Regina Food Bank’s 12 Days of Christmas Campaign.  The money and food items received go a long way in providing food for those in need over the winter season!  The Regina Food Bank is a charitable community based organization working to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education and advocacy in cooperation with the community.   MarkeTel is happy to be part of the effort to fight hunger and would like to sincerely thank all staff and everyone else who donated their time, food or money so generously this holiday season.  MarkeTel wishes everyone a safe and prosperous 2011!
